In the Latest of Twitter Fiascos
One would be typically be
rather excited upon seeing their name trend #1 on twitter. This however wasn’t
quite the case when it came to Fahad Mustafa.
With the release of their
upcoming movie Quaid e Azam Zindabad ever so near, heartthrobs Fahad Mustafa
and Mahira Khan are extensively promoting their new project on several
platforms.
The Precursor
It was at Gup Shup
with Fuchsia that Fawad expressed his dismay over his 11-year-old
daughter’s obsession with the famous South Korean boy group BTS that caught the
ire of the Pakistani chapter of ARMY, the official name for BTS’s fandom.
When questioned about his
relationship with his children, Fahad Mustafa stated:
"[My Son] tries a lot and sometimes over-loves because I'm close to my daughter and now him. So regardless, he follows me without a purpose. Fatima (his daughter), she's a BTS fan so she doesn't care.”
The anchorperson, in an
expression of interest, enquired as to what his daughter’s favorite song by BTS
was. Fahad proceeded to say that he chose not to take an interest in his
daughter’s obsession with the group.
He said that he once thought BTS stood for behind the scenes but his daughter corrected him;
“'no papa!' It's...I don't know Bangtan So.. something, I don't know”
He further conveyed his dismay by mentioning:
"She speaks Korean, she doesn't speak Sindhi, what is wrong with these people?"
When asked whether he had heard any
of the group’s songs the actor replied “no, hell no”.
The Consequences
Knowing BTS’s fanbase ARMY,
nothing of such sort goes down well for anyone. Pakistani fans of the South Korean
sensation took to social media to dish out a tit-for-tat response to the actor’s
bold remarks. Here’s some of the slander.
“Fahad Mustafa if you're so genuinely curious about K-pop then maybe research? Why everyone is so in love with their content? What makes their content worth watching? And then maybe you'll realize what makes your content trashy and unlikeable”
“I’m so so disappoint in Fahad Mustafa all languages & all artists have respect who are u to disrespect other languages and every individual has a right to whom they like or dislike “ajeeb bhai nhin ati tumhari beti ko sindhi tou seekhao” & "they speak Korean we don't understand”
“BTS topping all musical charts in Pakistan, dominating social media trends, getting more attention, their fans doing successful projects and so-called famous actor said...who is BTS??? Who are you Fahad Mustafa???”
“Pakistani celebs think they rule the world. Their attitude is so annoying I watched Fahad Mustafa’s interview where he talked about BTS dude needs to put some respect on their name and focus on his flop-ass career”
There were some twitter
users whom the entire fiasco took by surprise;
“Fahad Mustafa was the last person I would've thought to be cancelled by army-s, I am crying.”
