The Batman having grossed over $600 million and now being available on HBO Max
for viewers to stream from the comfort of their own home unmistakably indicates
that it has been a commercial success and so, a discussion is in order.
Robert Pattison as Batman
There have been
countless threads on twitter and Reddit where people have been debating over
Pattinson’s performance as batman. While he certainly did justice to Batman the
vigilante, especially with the voice, he didn’t quite portray Bruce Wayne as we
know him. Historically, Bruce Wayne has been a flamboyant socialite and a whole
other character of his own especially in the Christian Bale trilogy. With the
2022 Batman movie, we see a rather reserved Bruce Wayne nothing like the
playboy he is portrayed to be. With Pattinson, considerable focus has been put
on Batman rather than Bruce Wayne. It suffices to say, Pattinson’s performance
has been quite the success and on that basis, we are dead sure that he will be
appearing in the next Batman movie perhaps as a more developed Bruce Wayne.
Best Batman Film?
In our opinion, nothing
so far can beat the iconic Christopher Nolan trilogy. In fact, that trilogy is
what cemented the Batman series’ reputation among most of its audience. The
fact that the trilogy starred some of the best-known actors e.g. Christian Bale,
Heath Ledger, Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway, Cillian Murphy, Katie Holmes, Tom
Hardy etc. makes it unparalleled in the heart of most, if not all Batman
fanatics. Also, there seemed to be a lack of that chemistry between Robert
Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz. It was nothing close to the chemistry that Anne
Hathway and Christian Bale had. Further, to us it seemed like the movie was
rushed. It was as if there was too much in the storyline to fit in and there
was no breathing space in between. Speaking of story line, it could have been
better. The story line in this movie has been thus far the most tortuous of all
in the series. We had multiple villains, spring up one after the other which
simply stirred confusion. It isn’t all gloomy though; the single most iconic
moment in the entire movie was when the all-new bat-mobile got revealed. The
high-pitched engine noise of the bat-mobile invoked mystery among the crowd and
as it finally got revealed the moment was as grand as the entire movie. An
amazing debut to an otherwise overlooked aspect of the franchise.
The Ending
Towards the end we see a beaten-up character, who is unmistakably the joker, befriending the Riddler. Now this confirms that there will be a sequel to the movie in which the Riddler and the Joker team up against Gotham and the Batman. The joker is played by the renowned actor Barry Keoghan who is quite infamous for having played villainous roles in the past. The next movie could be the debut of a new Joker who we have desperately missed since his last appearance in 2008’s The Dark Knight when he was played by the best joker of all time, the late Heath Ledger. It is only a matter of time before we see our favorite villain in his purple suit make his new debut. It certainly has been a long since we have seen Batman and the Joker together.
